Hello world!

Hello Friends,

I am officially a candidate for Mayor of the Village of Castleton-on-Hudson NY. The election is March 16th and I am a running on the Castleton Village Coalition ticket (a very progressive group!).  There is one other person running and that candidate has been Mayor in the past, but there is a strong consensus that the mismanagement of the past requires a fresh perspective and commitment to Castleton’s success and that is precisely what I will bring to this office.  In small towns and villages (at least in New York State) party affiliation is not much of an issue, budgets are so tight that mostly everyone in every party is doing their best to keep their towns or villages solvent. In Castleton the Mayor oversees the Fire department, Water and Sewer department, Public Works department (road maintenance), Library, and the Village Hall staff.

And I have some good experience to handle the job:

  • Member of Castleton Planning Board since 2006
  • Board Member of  Castleton Kids After School program
  • Currently restoring “the old Maag house” on Allendorph Hill
  • Albany Times Union House Restoration Blog writer
  • Software executive at CommSoft located in East Greenbush
  • B.S. and M.B.A. graduate degrees
  • Reside in Village with partner, Mark, son, Timothy who attends Castelton Elementary, dog, Brady, and a handful of fish

The campaign is heating up so it’s time for the signs, buttons and contributions.  And that’s why I’m reaching out to all of you. As long as I collect under $1,000 I don’t have to get involved in campaign finance disclosures and in New York State that requires a lot of paperwork. So I’m asking you for a $10 contribution to my campaign. If you have Paypal you can donate through that to my Paypal account which is view2mtn@yahoo.com. If you don’t have Paypal email me at that same email address and I can tell you how to donate.

Castleton-on-Hudson is a great little, historic village loaded with charm. We’ve got a real Main Street with lots of period homes. The Village is literally on the shores of the Hudson River, we’ve got one of the best school districts in the entire Capital District region (I walk Timothy to school most mornings) and we’re within spitting distance of downtown Albany, the State Capitol.  And even though this all sounds quaint (did I mention Amtrak whistles through on a regular schedule?) the Village still needs the Joe Keegan touch. It’s a little worn and needs some sprucing up:  Please support my efforts to:

·         Attract new businesses

·         Acquire grant money to fix up Main Street

·         Plant new trees and enhance public spaces

·         Fund a technology makeover to help the Village staff do their jobs more efficiently

That’s where I can help and that’s why I want to be Mayor.

Please send you contribution via Paypal to view2mtn@yahoo.com or email for further information.

Thank You.

Joe Keegan
